ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — The Livermore and Pleasanton police departments are among several local agencies that have received recent grants from Walmart. Tuesday the Livermore Police Department was presented with a $3,000 check along with a pallet of bottled water and several water coolers from the Livermore Walmart store.

On the same day, the Pleasanton Police Department received a $3,500 check, as well as a pallet of bottled water and 10 ice chests from Pleasanton Walmart store manager Jessica Jennings. The money will be used in the police department's Crime Prevention Unit for community outreach and education, according to the PPD.

The police departments received the money directly from the individual store budgets. Jennings said she donated the money because her team wanted to show appreciation to local law enforcement for all the work they do to protect the store and keep community members safe.

Every Walmart store was asked to donate water and coolers to their local police departments, but Jennings made the decision to donate money as well.

"We are grateful to local law enforcement for their bravery in protecting our community," Jennings said. "I cannot thank them enough for diligently protecting our associates and customers to the best of their ability. This donation was just a small way to show our appreciation."
