Want A Job Scaring The Wits Out Of People?

EAST BAY, CA – The Pirates of Emerson Haunted Themed Park, which runs for 17 nights at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, and Fear Overload Scream Park in San Leandro, are hiring cast members for the upcoming Halloween season.

Applicants for actors and make-up artists for the Pirates of Emerson Haunted Themed Park can attend hiring events Aug. 19, Aug. 20, Sept. 9 and Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pleasanton fairgrounds at 4501 Pleasanton Ave., near gate 8.

"Keep in mind that this job really isn't for everyone," the theme parks operators state on its web site. "It's not as easy as it sounds, but if you are into scaring people in a fun environment, you can make it through."

Enter at Gate 12 and tell a guard, if present, that you are there for "Pirates." Turn right immediately after passing Gate 12 onto Road 6. Approximately one-eighth mile you will find the hiring crew, company reps said. You must be at least 18 years old to participate.

Fear Overload Scream Park operators said potential candidates for actors and make-up artists can apply online and will be contacted in early September, with interviews and auditions to follow.

"If you’ve truly got what it takes to be an actor at Fear Overload Scream Park, then you better fasten your seat belt," the Fear Overload team said on its web site. "Together with us, you will be trained in crawling, climbing, acting, and terrorizing. By the end of October, you will be fit, strong, and one of the scariest creatures alive, all the while working at the award-winning Fear Overload Scream Park."
