PLEASANTON, CA — Widmer World, a Pleasanton home twinkling with hundreds of thousands of lights that opens Friday, is asking the world to put aside their troubles for just a night and enjoy the magical world they’ve created.

“This year has seen the left fighting the right, wars, covid rising and a Congress that does not seem to care about the American people,” the Widmer family, which started building the display in 1980, said in an online announcement. “With that said we at Widmer-World want to put all that aside for just a little while and hopefully put a little joy into all of our lives. We will provide you with a fun, enjoyable evening to enjoy with friends or family or just yourself. We will be opening on time on December 1st running from our usual time of 6 to 9 PM nightly.”

Viewing the house at 3671 Chelsea Court, you’ll see how it can transport you into a more carefree space. The enchanting display boasts a nativity scene, a candy shop, Santa’s workshop, a merry-go-round, a mini-village full of so much more, and of course, Santa himself. On Dec. 4, the Widmers are also hosting a Scooby Doo-themed scavenger hunt.
