Work Continues On Fire-Damaged Harvest Park Library
The building was badly damaged by fire and smoke in July.

PLEASANTON, CA — On the first day of school in the Pleasanton Unified School District, cleanup efforts continue in the Harvest Park Middle School library, which was badly damaged by fire and smoke in July. The library sustained major damage to the attic, and the fire breached the roof over a section of the building.
There was also smoke and water damage to many of the building's contents, according to the fire department. No one was injured during the blaze.
A district spokesperson says that in the weeks since the fire, staff members have removed all of the materials from inside the building and will be removing some shelving to use in the interim library. All of the alarms and internet service have since been restored.

“We’ll be installing an interim library as we continue to examine repairs/rebuilding to the library,” spokesperson Patrick Gannon told Patch.
The school board approved “emergency corrective repairs” during a special meeting on July 6. The district will present the school board with an update on the process Tuesday night, Gannon said.
