Yury Gazaryan to receive Eagle Scout Award

Yury Gazaryan completed his Eagle Board of Review and will receive the award at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Saturday, March 29th, 2025. Yury is the son of Peter Gazaryan and Yulianna Grigoryants of Pleasanton, California.

He is a member of Troop 947, sponsored by Metcon of Pleasanton. Thanks go to his Scoutmaster, James Woodwell for his dedication to Scouting and help along the way.

Yury has been active in Scouting and served in the troop leadership as the Senior Patrol Leader and previously as Quartermaster and Historian. Yury loves scouting because scouting teaches and prepares youth for the adult world. Especially in the later ranks, where the responsibility of leading, organizing, and communicating is more on scout’s shoulders rather than adults. This has helped him with school, job, applying for college, etc. He also really likes the social aspect of Scouting, especially Scout Camp and similar trips.

For his Eagle Scout project, he built, installed and finished two park signs, one for Dolan Park and the other for Friesman Park in Livermore. He expresses appreciation for Livermore Parks & Recreation Department leaders, Rodolfo DePeralta and Joe Prime. The first day was spent digging holes for both signs, the second day was spent on finishing the signs, and the third day was installation of the signs in the parks. There were 16 helpers, and in total, the project took 129 hours to complete.

Yury is a senior at Amador Valley High School, His life plans include college and going into Pre-med, eventually having a nice family. His interests include Reading, biking, creative writing, Legos, and gaming. He has been section Leader in the AV Marching Band for the 2024-2025 season, worked at the Primary Poll Elections, volunteered for the American Cancer Society, as well as many other service projects through scouting and his church.

To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must be active in their troop, provide leadership, earn 21 merit badges including the areas of citizenship, camping, communications, cooking and lifesaving or emergency preparedness as well as demonstrate that they live by the principles of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. They must also plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project benefiting a religious institution, school, or community group.
