• Port Hueneme approves new rules, permits, fees for vacation rentals (vcstar.com) — Port Hueneme is rolling out strict new rules for short‑term vacation rentals, including a $995 annual permit, guest limits, and enforced quiet hours, though they won't take effect until after Coastal Commission review. About 50 local rentals will be affected, and repeat violations could bring steep fines or loss of permits, while the city expects the program to pay for its own enforcement.
   

• 13th Annual Banana Festival returns to the Port of Hueneme September 26 (ajot.com) — Port Hueneme locals can enjoy free admission and parking at the Banana Festival on Saturday, September 26, with live music, food, kids' activities, and tours inside the working port. Organizers are also collecting coats, blankets, toiletries, toys, and other items to ship to communities in Peru, while showcasing how the port supports thousands of regional jobs and global trade connections.
