4 Arrested At Poway DUI Checkpoint

The checkpoint was conducted between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday.

POWAY, CA -- A driver's license and drunken driving checkpoint in Poway resulted in four arrests, sheriff's officials said Sunday. The checkpoint was conducted between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday in the 8800 block of North Magnolia Avenue, according to Sgt. Joseph Passalacqua of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies arrested two people for drunken driving, out of 10 people who were given field sobriety tests, Passalacqua said. Deputies also arrested one person on a felony warrant and one on a misdemeanor warrant, he said.

Passalacqua said 17 people were cited for driving with suspended or revoked driver's licenses, and one citation was issued for a driver not in possession of a driver's license.

A total of 985 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, he said.
