'It was very fun': Del Sur Elementary students smiling after first day of school year (10news.com) — Families in the Poway Unified School District should know Del Sur Elementary students have finally started school, 11 days late, on the Stone Ranch Elementary campus after mold was found at Del Sur. About 840 Del Sur students are sharing space and staggered schedules with 550 Stone Ranch students, with some classes moved to the nearby Boys and Girls Club while cleanup and testing continue.

2. SoCal parents kept in the dark on school's toxic black mold infestation (amedpost.com) — Parents in Poway Unified are demanding answers after learning that mold was found in multiple classrooms at Black Mountain Middle School and another district elementary campus, with notification coming only after students had already returned. District officials say rooms were cleaned and retested, but families remain concerned about communication delays and the health implications of varying mold levels.

3. Poway High to field a strong cross country team, coach says (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Poway High's cross country coach says both the boys and girls teams could be even stronger this season, despite graduating star runner Cooper Castleberry. 4. School districts across San Diego take measures to protect students from heat (nbcsandiego.com) — Families in Poway Unified are being asked to limit students' time outdoors and watch for signs of heat illness as a major heat wave grips inland San Diego County. The district is shifting activities to cooler morning hours and urging coaches and staff to monitor athletes and students closely while keeping water and shaded, air‑conditioned spaces available.

  • Finally found my first Bald Eagle at Lake Poway this morning.
(He was flying with his pal in tow). Also saw an Osprey fishing. He was quite far away when he dove into the water so picture quite poor. (Nextdoor Del Poniente)
  • Hello neighbors, I'm seeking a tree service for periodic trimming of some Washingtonia palms, and to provide ongoing care and maintenance for many other trees (pepper, coral, jacarandas).
Anyone have a tree service they would recommend? Thanks in advance! (Nextdoor Old Coach)
