Authorities ID Man Killed In Poway Crash

POWAY, CA – The man killed in a chain-reaction crash that injured several other people and blocked rush-hour traffic was identified Friday by authorities and friends as a 40-year-old father and musician.

Aluctec Galindo was driving a Kia Optima just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in a northbound lane of Community Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck another northbound motorist a little south of Poway Road, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office said. Galindo's Kia then crossed the painted center median, struck a commercial truck and was broad-sided by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

Witnesses called 911, but Galindo suffered multiple blunt force injuries, including head trauma, and was pronounced dead at the scene, the medical examiner's office said. Friends on social media remembered Galindo as a father and talented musician, with one posting a video of Galindo playing a maraca-like instrument, and another extolling his skills with a Native American water drum.

An accident reconstruction team is still investigating the cause of the crash, which snarled rush-hour traffic for hours when investigators shut down Community Road between Metate Lane and Civic Center Drive in both directions.
