Brush Fire Prompts Evacuations Of Poway Industrial Park, Road Closures
The blaze, called the Metate Fire, burned near Metate Lane and Community Road, according to Cal Fire San Diego.
POWAY, CA — A small brush fire prompted evacuations and road closures Sunday in Poway.
The blaze was reported at 1:52 p.m. near Metate Lane and Community Road, according to Cal Fire San Diego, which assisted Poway Fire Department in battling the flames.
The fire, called the Metate Fire, burned four acres and caused limited evacuations in the industrial park of Brookprinter Place, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Deputies closed Metate Lane from Community Road to Rio Real, and Community Road from Civic Center Drive to Stowe Drive.

Firefighting helicopters dropped water on the blaze. Firefighters on the scene reported that the forward rate of spread was stopped at about 2:30 p.m.
There were no reports of injuries or damaged structures.
