SAN DIEGO – A brush fire broke out Tuesday in a canyon in the Sabre Springs area of San Diego County, burning close to streets and homes but causing no structural damage.
The blaze sparked at about 12:30 p.m. near several intersecting footpaths in an open area off Poway Road and Sabre Springs Parkway, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
It took ground crews and personnel aboard two water-dropping helicopters about 90 minutes to fully subdue the flames, which blackened "a little more than an acre," SDFRD spokesman Jose Ysea said.
