City Of Poway: Poway Names Audrey Denham As Community Services Director

The City of Poway is proud to announce the appointment of Audrey Denham to the position of Community Services Director. She will lead the city’s Community Services department, which enriches the community through an exceptional blend of recreation, arts, leisure, and cultural programs, and to provide parks / facilities and open space for all. The department has a staff of 20 full-time employees and a budget of $6.3 million.

Denham is no stranger to Poway, having worked for the Community Services Department from 2007 to 2014. She held supervisor roles at Old Poway Park, Lake Poway, Community Park and the Performing Arts Center.

“We’re excited Audrey has come home to Poway,” City Manager Chris Hazeltine said. “She has proven herself to be an excellent public servant and she will no doubt be a tremendous leader for our exceptional community services department.”

“I’m excited to serve the Poway community again,” Denham said. “and it definitely feels like I’m returning home. If you see me at a park or event, please say hello.”

Denham has more than 17 years of parks and recreation experience, most recently as recreation superintendent for the City of National City. Her core focus was in the areas of facility management, finance and budget, leases and operating agreements, grants, special events, community outreach, staff and volunteer management and stakeholder relations. 

Denham has a bachelor’s degree in business management from National University.
