Community Church of Poway Fall Festival Oct. 24 Blessing of the Animals, Trunk or Treat, Halloween Carnival, Vendors, Re-sale Shop, Bakery

Saturday, October 24 will mark the 30 year anniversary of the Fall Festival held at the Community Church of Poway, 13501 Community Road, Poway, CA 92064. Starting at 9:00 a.m. the day will be packed full of events for all ages.

The big addition to this year’s 30th Fall Festival will be a Blessing of the Animals program at 1:00 p.m. Seating will be available in the parking lot in front of the church entrance. It is a time when the community is invited to bring their pets to be blessed. Animal Rescue groups and animal related businesses are invited to participate by having free booth space at the event. This invitation is extended to 4-H, FFA, pet stores, and groomers. Interested parties should contact Debbie Hallmark at 858-748-3304 or Jeanette Roache at 619-993-1400.

The Fall Festival has indoor and outdoor activities. The church parking lot will be set up with vendors providing some of the best holiday shopping opportunities for those looking for truly unique gifts. Inside Fellowship Hall one will find the Country Re-sale Store, Bakery and Café. Breakfast goodies and coffee will be available in the morning and hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, sodas, water and Grandma’s homemade fifteen bean soup will be served. Bean soup kits with grandma’s recipe will also be available for purchase.

At 10 a.m. the children’s Halloween Carnival will open in the Pre-school yard. This event is geared to elementary school age children. They are invited to come in their Halloween costumes. Also starting at 10 a.m., the church Women’s Fellowship will be sponsoring the second annual Trunk or Treat event in the parking lot. Judging will take place to recognize the best decorated car trunks.

Jeanette Roache, President of the Women’s Fellowship and chairperson for the Fall Festival stated, “Trunk or Treat, is a fun and safe way to celebrate Halloween. Participants park their cars together and open their trunks to reveal Halloween themed decorations. Children can walk from trunk to trunk to look at the decorations and receive candy and treats. This provides a controlled and safe family environment for trick or treaters’ of all ages. Trunk decorations are up to the participants. Anyone wanting to help make this event special for the children in our community by decorating their trunk and handing out candy should contact me, Jeanette Roache at 619-993-1400.
