DUI Arrest: Driver Arrested After Crash At Perry Ford In Poway

The driver's Honda rolled over a car on the sales lot and hit another parked car before landing on its roof Sunday, police said.

POWAY, CA – A driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Poway after running a red light with his car, crashing into a pickup truck, then damaging two cars at an automobile dealership, authorities said Monday.

The crash was reported just before 9 p.m. Sunday at Poway and Carriage roads, said San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. David Toner.

A 2002 Honda Civic was traveling westbound in the left lane of Poway Road when it ran a red light at Carriage Road and hit the rear right of a 2000 Toyota Tundra that was turning left, Toner said. The Honda driver then lost control of his car, driving over the raised curb and through a chain link fence, he said.

"One of the metal posts from the fence was bent forward, turning it into a raised ramp," Toner said. "That caused the Honda to go airborne as it went onto the property of Perry Ford Motors."

The 22-year-old man driving the Honda was taken to a hospital and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Toner said. The 26-year-old Toyota driver left the scene after the crash but was tracked down at home and issued a notice to appear for hit-and-run.
