DUI Checkpoint Planned In Poway This Weekend
The checkpoint will take place Friday night through Saturday morning at an undisclosed location within Poway city limits.

POWAY, CA – The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is conducting a DUI and driver's license checkpoint this weekend in Poway. The checkpoint is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. Friday and end at 2:30 a.m. Saturday at an undisclosed location within Poway city limits, sheriff's Sgt. David Cheever said.
"The primary intent of this checkpoint is to educate the public of the dangers associated with drinking and driving," Cheever said. "Additionally, this checkpoint will serve as a deterrent to potentially impaired drivers. Finally, this checkpoint provides an important governmental service by promoting public safety."
Deputies will be on the lookout for drivers with signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment, Cheever said. Deputies will also check for valid licensing.
