It’s the annual El Cajon Ford Youth Fishing Derby at Lake Poway.
The City of Poway and Captain Ron Baker, formerly of Fish Talk Radio, are hosting a day of fun and prizes. The event begins at sunrise, with fishing continuing until noon (the lake will be stocked with 2,000 pounds of hungry rainbow trout), and then all participating children and their families are invited to enjoy a tasty barbecue lunch.
The awards ceremony and raffle drawing will be held at 1 p.m., with prized awarded to age division winners and lucky raffle ticket winners. Prizes will also be awarded to the child with the best fishing story.
