Flooding and Lake Poway Dam Emergency Plans to be Explained at City Hall Jan. 12

Learn About the City of Poway Flash Flood Warning System

Learn about emergency measures in the event of a dam failure at Lake Poway due to an earthquake or other catastrophe at the 7 pm Thursday, Jan. 12, meeting of the Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC). It will be held at City Council Chambers, located at 13325 Civic Center Drive.

Speaking at the event is Terry Zaragoza, Interim Public Works Utilities Manager for the city of Poway. He will speak on the dam and how the city monitors the water levels of the reservoir, response plans in the event of damage to the dam and how that will be communicated to the pubic.

Also speaking will be Alex Tardy, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service, part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Alex will explain current and forecasted climate, Poway's drought situation and our flash flood warning system.
