Girls Volleyball: Poway Comes Back to Down RB
Titans finish first half of Palomar League schedule at 4-1 while the Broncos are at 2-3.
With a surge at the end that produced a key win in game three, the Poway High girls volleyball team stormed past visiting Rancho Bernardo 23-25, 25-20, 28-26, 25-10 on Tuesday to remain in the hunt for a Palomar League title.
The Titans finish the first round of league play at 4-1, losing only to defending champ Torrey Pines (5-0) last week. RB falls to 2-3 in the league standings.
After a split of the first two games, the Broncos pulled out to a 24-20 lead in game three, only to lose five straight points and eventually fall 28-26. After that, it was all Poway in game four. The Titans built a 10-3 lead and held a 15-8 advantage before scoring 10 of the game's final 12 points.

"We're young, and we're an emotional team," said Rancho Bernardo coach Jay Van Vark, who felt his team was affected by a call late in game three that may have led to the tough loss.
"We finally got energetic," said first-year Poway coach Breezy Ambort, noting that her team was hitting on all cylinders toward the end of the match.
