Holiday Musical at Poway Center for the Performing Arts Dec. 16, 17, 18

Just a reminder that if you want tickets to our only big holiday musical in this area, you need to get them soon to ensure you get in to one of three performances. RB Chorale will present its “Sing Noel and More” 42nd annual holiday show at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 and Saturday, Dec. 17, with a 1 p.m. show on Sunday, Dec. 18 in the Poway Center for the Performing Arts, 15498 Espola Road. The theater holds 800 but ticket sales have been brisk.

Created to fund music scholarships for graduating local high school seniors, this community holiday musical brings together over 100 local vocalists, beautiful sets, festive chorale numbers, talented soloists, and dazzling dancers. It will feature Christmas music with a dash of Hanukkah, a splash of specialty acts, a little Broadway and with the Chorale’s signature song finale “Say It with a Song.” Santa Claus will be there with treats for the children and patrons are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy for the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign.

Most of the performers in this musical production are your neighbors and have spent the past three months rehearsing for this performance. I liked the chance to raise scholarship funds for local seniors to study music in college, so I began singing for them two years ago. During intermission of our show, three contestants will perform for the audience to determine first, second and third place winners. Every penny you spend on tickets goes right to these scholarships.

We have great neighbors in our community. Make this holiday show even more fun by inviting a neighbor to go with you. All of this is for a good cause and it can be an opportunity to build new friendships.
