Letter to the Editor: Confusing Mailer Collects Your Information, Rep. Peters Says

As several television advertisements, mailers, and attacks have already been launched by independent groups in advance of next yearβs election, it's easy to see why some might be confused about where they all originate.Β
My campaign has not run any television advertisements this year, nor have we sent any mail. The League of ConservationΒ VotersΒ recentlyΒ ran television ads independently across the country in support of fiveΒ legislators for our work for clean water, including to support me here in San Diego.Β Americans for Prosperity, a PAC funded by the Koch brothers, isΒ running radio ads andΒ sending direct mail attacking me here, too. Their mail piece asks the recipient to detach a postcard and send it to me, so many have mistakenly thought it was sentΒ by myΒ campaign.Β However, the return address goes to them,Β not to myΒ office; the organizationΒ did thisΒ as a tactic to collect your information.Β Β If you've sent one, please know that I did not receive it.Β
If you are confused by these, or have a question, please call or email my office, and we'd be happyΒ toΒ answer your questions.Β
