Meet, Pray, Love: Poway Mom Brings Others Together to Pray for Their Children
Cathi Armitage has been a volunteer for Moms in Prayer International for nearly 20 years.
A good mother will always know just what to say when times are toughest for their children. For Cathi Armitage, it’s also knowing the right time to pray.
An 18-year volunteer with Moms in Prayer International—formerly Moms in Touch—the “career mom” of four says she first got involved with the organization when son Luke was having trouble.
“When my oldest was starting kindergarten, he was nervous, sad and anxious,” Armitage said. “Gathering with the women has provided such peace and comfort. It just becomes this community of prayer that’s just so powerful.”

Now the area coordinator for Poway, Armitage bring together like-minded moms wanting to pray over their children and school. The MIP website states 11,000 schools are prayed for across the U.S., and prayer groups have been set up in 130 countries.
“We pray biblical scripture over our kids,” said Armitage, married to her high school sweetheart, Matt. “We will pray for their protection, we will pray that they will be able to resist temptation, we pray that they will be godly influences to thier peers.”

She says Luke is now a happy senior in college and siblings Jake, Olivia and William are trailing behind him at different stages.
“We have a surfer, a skateboarder, a basketball player and a singer,” said the proud mom. “Our kids have always gone in four different directions with their activities and interests.”
