Neighbors' Tips Lead To Arrest Of Break-In Suspect In Poway
Teamwork between deputies, dispatchers and the local citizens resulted in the rapid arrest, officials said.

POWAY, CA – A burglary suspect was arrested this week in Poway after one resident heard a neighbor's alarm, contacted law enforcement and another resident kept deputies updated on the man's location, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
Responding Monday afternoon to the citizen's call of a home alarm sounding on the 14000 block of Palisades Drive in Poway, deputies were informed by neighbors that a man was spotted running from a residence, the agency said.
The suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Alvaro Valencia, was apprehended on the 14000 block of nearby Arbolitos Drive, after a resident kept deputies informed of the man's whereabouts, according to authorities.

Valencia, a parolee from Los Angeles County, was arrested for suspicion of residential burglary and a parole violation, and was booked into San Diego Central Jail, deputies said.
"This case exemplifies the community partnership between these alert citizens in Poway and the Sheriff’s
Department," deputies said. "These citizens are commended for reporting the suspicious activity immediately. They kept observation and updated dispatchers about the suspect’s location. The teamwork between the responding deputies, dispatchers and citizens led to the rapid and safe conclusion of this burglary investigation."
