Poway Among 50 Safest Cities In CA: Report
Poway was the only city in San Diego County to make the list.

POWAY, CA – Poway is among the 50 safest cities in California, according to a new report by SafeWise. Poway came in 37th and is the only city in San Diego County to make the list.
To compile the list, SafeWise analysts reviewed the 2016 FBI crime report statistics and census population data. The evaluation was based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery) in each city per 1,000 people. If there was a tie, they also factored in the number of property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and car theft). Cities that fell below identified population thresholds or failed to submit a complete FBI crime report were excluded from the ranking system.
There are 50,606 residents living in Poway, but only 1.28 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 8.99 property crimes per 1,000 people.
