Poway Annual Youth Fishing Derby Feb. 1
In addition to the Annual Youth Fishing Derby, there will be a free trout fishing seminar Feb. 8 and March 14 at Lake Poway Pavilion.
From the City of Poway: Lake Poway is closed to fishing and boating Jan. 27 to Feb. 1 until 12 p.m. The Annual Youth Fishing Derby will be Feb. 1. Fishing, prizes, entertainment, games, bounce houses, a free barbecue lunch and more! Join the City of Poway Feb. 1 for an exciting day of fun and prizes at the free 25th Annual Youth Fishing Derby! Freshly stocked with rainbow trout, the lake will be open only to youths ages 15 and younger from 6 a.m.- noon. Winners must be present to claim prizes at the awards ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
*Participants must check-in at the registration tables to receive their wristbands before fishing that morning. *

Nestled in the hills of Poway, the Lake Poway Recreation Area not only serves as the water supply for residents, but also has provided exceptional outdoor recreational opportunities since 1972. Get hooked on fishing and boating, head up the mountain on a hike, take aim at archery, or enjoy a leisurely picnic.
Lake Poway’s gates open at 6 a.m. daily and are closed and locked at sunset.
Free Trout Fishing Seminar at Lake Poway
Saturdays: February 8th and March 14th, 2020
Come learn from the experts. This seminar is geared toward beginners and first-time anglers. The seminar will cover; basic fishing techniques, bait types, equipment. No registration is required, and no equipment is needed.
