Poway Scores Twice in Fourth Quarter to Top LCC
Gabriel Isaak connects on 21 of 23 passes as the No. 8 Titans handle the No. 4 Mavs.
It was like day and night for Poway High School quarterback Gabriel Isaak. After throwing four interceptions in a 24-7 loss to La Costa Canyon last year, the now-senior signal caller didn't even throw four incompletions as the Titans scored two TDs in the final quarter Friday night to beat host LCC 28-14.
Isaak hit on 21 of 23 attempts, good for 170 yards and a touchdown, and ran one over from a yard out with four minutes left to play to clinch the win for the No. 8 Titans over No. 4 LCC.
"This was kind of a dream-come-true night for me," sais Isaak. "I threw four picks against them last year and that kind of lost the game for us. That had been on my mind for a long time."

Mavericks quarterback Jake Sesti hit Brett Lingelback on a 62-yard scoring play for the only score of the third quarter, pulling LCC into a 14-14 tie. But Ryan Moreno's 5-yard TD run with 8:23 left in the game capped an 11-play drive and put Poway ahead to stay.
Sesti threw for just under 200 yards on 9-of-14 passing, and Isaac Maquet added 60 yards rushing for the Mavs.
