This season, the Poway Unified School District, and community-based organizations alike, will also host a variety of quality events for all ages and interests, including dance, drama and musical performances.
Tickets can be purchased online or through the Box Office (858-748-0505), whose hours are noon-5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. For the complete listing of upcoming performances, visit powaycenter.com.
If you and yours are more of the do-it-yourselfers, visit Michaels Poway store for one of two weekend events. Saturday, the store will host an American Girl Doll Event, where girls ages 3 and up are encouraged to bring their doll to cook up some fun. It’s a free “make-it and take-it” breakfast plate and chef hat. The craft event takes place from 10 a.m. to noon.
Also, this Sunday, local craft makers can attend the store’s Decorative Charger Event to set the scene with do-it-yourself style. This make-it and take-it project takes place from 1-3 p.m. Of course, both activities are while supplies last.
Michaels, the craft giant, specializes in arts, crafts, framing, floral, wall décor and seasonal merchandise. Think: all the Halloween (and any other holiday) goodies. The Poway store is located at 12339 Poway Rd. For all creative projects, in-store events and activities visit Michaels.com/theknack; the store can also be reached at 858-748-0798.
And, last but not least, the Hoot, Howl and Prowl at the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve is coming up Oct. 22. Guests will be led by docents dressed in wildlife costumes on a one-mile adventure through the reserve to meet live critters hiding in the shadows of the canyon.
Small groups will depart every 15 minutes, starting at 5:30 p.m. with the last group leaving at 8 p.m. Children are encouraged to dress in warm costume and will receive a glow necklace. Hot chocolate will also be served at the end of the tour. And parking will be at Lake Poway, where a free shuttle will transport participants to the reserve.
The cost is $5 per person. For more information or to make a reservation, call the Blue Sky office at 858-668-4781 or visit the Lake Poway Administration building at 14644 Lake Poway Rd.
