"I am very lucky, and proud, to serve as the principal of Midland Elementary School," she said. "Midland has become my second home and it is where I tend to focus my time and attention on giving back to the community. It is an honor to work beside and support the efforts of the staff, students and parents in this extraordinary school community. ... a community that is focused on overcoming barriers and ensuring children are getting everything they need on their road toward college readiness."
Her involvement in the lives of these children is what Lerner, who is inspired by women like Anne Frank and Lucille Ball, is most proud of.

I love what I do!"
What does Women's History Month mean to you?
"Women’s History Month highlights the notable contributions of women (and girls) from our history, as well as those who are making a difference in our current society. Helping those around us become aware of the contributions of women in history—their courage, strength, tenacity, and will to achieve their goals despite some incredible odds—is an invaluable opportunity for us to seize during the month of March. Men and women have worked together to build our nation; since women’s contributions often went unnoticed it’s important to spend this month focusing on their achievements."
