Project SARAH and Jewish Family Service Present “More Than a Few Good Mensches: The Role of Men in Preventing and Raising Awareness about Domestic Abuse” featuring Jackson Katz, Ph.D. for National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October

Project SARAH (Stop Abusive Relationships At Home), a
program of Jewish Family Service, offers a safe, confidential setting for
individuals experiencing domestic abuse to explore resources and assists them
in making critical life decisions. Jewish Family Service has grown into one of San Diego’s premier human care service
organizations serving more than 35,000 people of all ages and faiths annually
throughout San Diego County and the Coachella Valley. Project SARAH presents Jackson
Katz, Ph.D., an educator, author, and internationally-acclaimed lecturer who is
a pioneer in the fields of gender violence prevention education and critical
media literacy.

Jackson Katz, Ph.D., will speak about
gender violence prevention in relation to media literacy. Dr. Katz believes
that men's leadership – in partnership with women − is the crucial missing
component in dramatically reducing gender violence. In this engaging and
interactive presentation, he will illustrate how pandemic levels of gender
violence are perpetuated by social norms shaped by media depictions of men,
women, sex and violence.
