Learn about available emergency resources from volunteer organizations at 7 pm Thursday, Feb. 6, at Poway City Council Chambers

A public meeting to discuss how emergency volunteers work with city and county agencies to mitigate damages and save lives during emergencies is set for 7 pm Thursday, Feb. 6, at Poway City Council Chambers. Hosted by the nonprofit Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC), the meeting will address the coordination necessary between residents and public agencies that are vital to protect this community in an emergency.
Susy Turnbull, Poway's Disaster Preparedness Coordinator, will discuss Poway's recent water contamination crisis and the importance of volunteers working with the city to help residents until the water again was potable. A number of organizations will give presentations explaining what residents can expect from them during an emergency and how people can get involved. These include the Poway Auxiliary Communications Team (PACT), City of Poway Safety Services, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and several other volunteer organizations.
