PUSD Orchestra Festival to be at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts

Free Adjudicated Performance Set for March 5

Area schools will participate in an adjudicated orchestral performance from 6 to 9 pm Sunday, March 5, at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. Orchestras from Bernardo Heights Middle School, Twin Peaks Middle School, Meadowbrook Middle School, Rancho Bernardo High School and La Jolla Country Day High School will be judged and evaluated at the concert by the Music Director of the California Symphony, Dana Zimbric.

PUSD Orchestra Director Ulli Reiner, who is the Festival Host, noted that this concert is free and it is a rare opportunity for the community to experience a formal adjudicated performance. Ms. Reiner recently was a top ten finalist for Music Educator of the Year by the Recording Academy's Grammy Awards. Among numerous other leadership roles in music education throughout the San Diego area, she founded the Poway High School Symphony and heads the PUSD Adult School Poway Community Symphony Orchestra and Poway Community Symphonette.

Ms. Zimbric, an award-winning conductor, is also the Artistic Director and Conductor of the California Chamber Orchestra, the Classics Philharmonic Orchestra and in 2016 joined the conducting staff of the California Ballet Company in San Diego.
