Mt. Woodson, San Vicente Offer Winter Golf Opportunities
Two lush golf courses can be found east of Poway.
With two of the most scenic courses in the county just minutes from their doorsteps and some great deals on green fees, it might indeed be the most wonderful time of the year for Poway residents who like to golf.
Mt. Woodson Golf Club and San Vicente Golf Resort have several deals that could be the perfect stocking stuffer or gift for the golfer on your holiday list, from a single round to a mini-vacation to an annual membership.
At Mt. Woodson, which was voted the San Diego course with the "Best Scenery" by Southland Golf Magazine readers last year, a "Players Club" card is available that offers discounts on rounds, lessons and merchandise as well as a free round. At $99 annually for a seven-days-a-week card or $59 for Monday-Friday play, the free round alone is worth more than half the fee. Add in special member events, early twilight rates and savings of $10 to $18 per round over the green fees the general public pays, and the club card is a great deal.

With the days so short at this time of year, Mt. Woodson also offers a twilight rate that starts at noon and can be booked through its online reservation system. Tee time between noon and 1 p.m. is available at $37 with cart on weekdays and $47 on weekends. A senior rate of $37 for club members and $45 for nonmembers is offered daily.
San Vicente also has some money saving afternoon deals. Twilight rates begin at noon ($47 Monday-Thursday, $57 Friday-Sunday), and super-twilight rates bring the green fees down to $27 (weekdays) and $32 (weekends) after 1 p.m. San Diego Country Estates residents pay even less.

The resort facilities make San Vicente the ideal place to spend several days enjoying the Ted Robinson-designed course and the other amenities. A "Stay and Play" package for $119 offers one night of lodging plus a round of golf for two. Other packages include meals and additional golf.
