The Homicide Unit is identifying the female who was found deceased at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on September 28, 2021, as sixty-one-year-old Teresita Manialung Tuazon. Tuazon was a resident of the city of Vista. Her next of kin was located today and notified of her death.

Tuazon was booked into custody by the San Diego Sheriff's Department on September 4, 2021, for the charges of:

Two counts of 166(C)(1) PC – Violation of a Protective Order

The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy today. There were no signs of trauma. The cause and manner of death are pending laboratory results and further evaluation.

Information from the prior release:

On September 28, 2021, just after 6:00 p.m., deputies at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility found a female inmate unresponsive in her cell. Deputies and medical staff performed lifesaving measures until relieved by fire department personnel. The inmate was transported to a local area hospital. Unfortunately, she was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital.    

The Homicide Unit responded to investigate the death. The woman was in a cell by herself. No evidence of foul play was discovered. The identity of the woman is known to investigators; however, her name is being withheld pending family notification.

The Medical Examiner's Office has scheduled an autopsy for later this morning.
