San Diego Marine Pilot Killed in Fighter Jet Crash

The pilot was based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A U.S. Marine pilot based out of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego was killed in an F/A-18C Hornet crash late Thursday.

According to a statement from MCAS Miramar, the Third Marine Aircraft Wing pilot was taking part in a training mission near Twentynine Palms when the fighter jet crashed at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Military officials are investigating the cause of the fatal crash, and have yet to disclose the name of the deceased pilot.
