Learn a Tune on the Fiddle

Fiddler Avery Ellisman is having a fiddle workshop on Sunday at Old Poway Park.

Grab your fiddles and bring your enthusiasm to Old Poway Park on Sunday for a special workshop.

Well-known local bluegrass and old-time fiddler Avery Ellisman is teaching the tricks of his trade on Sunday to young, aspiring fiddlers. Musicians interested in attending should be at least at intermediate level. All ages are welcome.

Ellisman specializes in licks and rhythmic options, so students of this workshop will learn several of them for standard bluegrass and old-time tunes. Ellisman is the founder and director of the Julian Family Fiddle Camp and has played with the popular band Prairie Sky throughout San Diego. If there’s anyone to learn some fiddlin’ from, it’s Ellisman.
