Students at Discovery Isle Preschool in Scripps-Poway Donate Food and Nearly $450 for Local Food Bank
Students raised $442 in virtual donations and collected nonperishable food items for the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank
POWAY, Calif. (Jan. 27, 2017) – Students at Discovery Isle Preschool in Scripps-Poway recently raised $442 in donations collected through an online food drive, and filled two large bins of nonperishable food items for the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. The donations were part of a school-wide drive this winter. The items and funds collected will help feed people in need throughout San Diego County. Through the drive, students learned the importance of giving back to their community.
The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank feeds an average of 370,000 people every month, including seniors, active duty military members and children living in poverty. Its mission is to provide nutritious food to people in need, advocate for the hungry and educate the public about hunger-related issues.
