Rady Children's Hospital Auxiliary, Poway Unit's thirteenth annual Tabletops and Tea event on April 17, 2016 at Fairmont Grand Del Mar
Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, Poway Unit announces its thirteenth annual Tabletops and Tea event on April 17, 2016 at the beautiful Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego. This year’s theme, “Come Fly with Me – Rediscover the USA,” will feature tables decorated from destinations around the USA. The event, for which tickets cost $95 a seat, is chaired this year by Bridgett Brown and Deborah Oliver. In addition to the tabletops that are won by lucky opportunity drawing winners, there will be a luncheon, silent auction, shopping boutique, program and live auction.
This year, the event will benefit Developmental Services and its Senior Director, Kristin Gist, will speak at the event.
“Rady Children’s Developmental Services provides a full range of developmental and behavioral evaluation and intervention services to children of all ages. We are committed to helping children reach their full potential and there is never a day – never an appointment – where we are not looking for a better way to help our patients and support our families. Every moment matters.” -- Kristin Gist, Senior Director of Developmental Services.

Dr. Kim Lund will also be speaking about her son Gavin’s treatment for Pinocchio syndrome at Rady Children’s Hospital.
“Rady Children’s is the place where dreams come true for children like Gavin and their families. As a parent of a broken child you want desperately for repair or any semblance of normalcy because deep in your heart you know your kid wants to “do” things that other kids too. Children learn from and love movement. Physical therapy has brought that to Gavin. When you are told your child will never eat real food, roll over, sit, walk, ride a bike or talk, things look and feel dark and grim. By adapting to his needs the staff has brought light and rainbows. Gavin has learned to roll over at age 4, walked at 5 in his gait trainer and stared riding his bike and talking with his amazing eye gaze device at 6.” – Dr. Kim Lund
Emmy Award winning news anchor Barbara-Lee Edwards of CBS News 8 will again be hosting the event. Barbara-Lee Edwards has been at the helm of the CBS News 8 anchor desk since 2001, anchoring the 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts every weeknight.
