U.S. Postal Inspector to Speak at Poway Forum on Mail Fraud

Learn the latest scams, frauds and strategies on mail fraud at Nov. 5 public meeting

The Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC) is sponsoring a mail fraud presentation at 7 pm Thursday, Nov. 5, at 14211 Twin Peaks Road, featuring local U.S. Postal Inspector Ricky Vida.

Vida will provide free “Fraud Prevention” DVDs and explain the nature of postal-related crime in the mail, such as mail fraud and theft, dangerous packages, illegal drugs and child exploitation. Vida explained that “scammers” have many access points to Poway neighborhoods via the mail, telephone, computer, cell phone and wireless internet connectivity. His presentation will cover the latest scams, frauds and strategies to protect personal financial resources from criminals.

The nonprofit PNEC presents periodic workshops to ensure the safety of Poway neighborhoods through a grass roots communication network of neighbors.
