When In 'Trout,' Fish!

Trout season starts this weekend.

Break out your fishing poles and tackle boxes! Trout season begins on Friday.

Veterans Day marks the opening day of at Lake Poway. Nebraska rainbow trout, a whole 3,000 pounds of it, will be swimming in the lake waiting to be caught. The trout will continue to be stocked on a bi-monthly basis, with a total of 21,000 fish making their way into our lake.

During the fishing season, which lasts through May, Lake Poway is open at sunrise Wednesday-Sunday. Permits are required and can be purchased at Lake Poway Grill and Tackle. Seniors 55 and older and Military receive reduced rates. State Fishing Licenses are not required to catch the trout at Lake Poway. Check out the trout season stocking schedule here.

Ready to go fishin’? The season opens at 6 a.m. on Friday at . Day permits cost anywhere from $3-$4, with monthly passes available from $42-$48. Kids 7 and under can fish for free with a paid adult.
