2 Injured When Balloon-Type Aircraft Crashes In Remote SD Area
One person had to extricated from the passenger pod that rolled downhill, San Diego officials said.
WARNER SPRINGS, CA – Two individuals were injured and transported to a hospital Sunday after the balloon-type aircraft, in which they were riding, crashed in the Warner Springs area, officials said.
Responding to the accident, CAL FIRE/ San Diego County Fire units arrived and found the balloon's passenger "pod" had rolled roughly 500 feet downhill, with one person still inside and needing extrication, the department said.
San Diego County Sheriff ASTREA assisted, as did the San Diego County Fire Copter 11, for a hoist rescue.

"This incident shows the diverse emergencies that CAL FIRE/ San Diego County Fire responds to every day within our county," the agency said.
No information was released on the extent of the individuals' injuries.
