• Road Projects Improving Safety Near Schools (countynewscenter.com) — Students at Ramona's Olive Pierce Middle School now have a new crosswalk, pedestrian ramp, signs, and a rapid flashing beacon on Hanson Lane, part of the County's push to improve safety near schools. Similar upgrades were recently completed in El Cajon and Fallbrook, as the County expands safer crossings and traffic signals around busy school areas across the region.
   

• Kit Fox Outfitters scales back by closing its Ramona store on Sept. 30 (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Kit Fox Outfitters is closing its Ramona storefront on Sept. 30 as owners Stephanie and Colin Macdonald scale back after her recent heart attack, but they'll keep selling gear online and offering classes. Wilderness first aid and CPR courses will continue at regional locations, with Stephanie planning to resume teaching CPR in Ramona after the new year.
   

• Woman who fatally stabbed her fire captain wife is sentenced to 36 years to life (miamiherald.com) — A Ramona resident, Yolanda Olejniczak Marodi, has been sentenced to 36 years to life in prison for fatally stabbing her wife, Cal Fire Capt. Rebecca Marodi, at their Ramona home in February 2025. Prosecutors say the case underscores the dangers of domestic violence, and the conviction follows Olejniczak Marodi's earlier manslaughter case involving a previous partner.
