• Survey circulating in Ramona asks for input by Sept. 14 on proposed shuttle route (sandiegouniontribune.com) — A new free shuttle service is being planned specifically for Ramona, and residents are being asked to complete a survey by Sept. 14 to shape the route, schedule, and stop locations. Funded by a $10 million state grant, the project will also pay for electric shuttle vans and major improvements to the Ramona Senior Center, Junior Fairgrounds, and even groundwork for a future dog park.
   

• Happy Hens, Salmonella, and the Carton That Is Still in Somebody's Refrigerator (foodpoisonjournal.com) — A Salmonella outbreak genetically linked to two hen houses at Eben-Haezer's Happy Hens in Ramona has sickened 23 people, including Ramona residents, and prompted multiple lawsuits. State officials recommended a voluntary egg recall that has not occurred, so anyone in Ramona who recently ate undercooked eggs and feels ill is urged to see a doctor, request testing, and report their illness to county health authorities.
