Elementary Schools Honor Band to Attend Orange County Festival
Successful Spaghetti Dinner Concert;Honor Band is poised to attend the Orange County Adjudicated Festival on May 18, and will enjoy the Knott's Berry Farm afterwards.
The Ramona Unified Elementary Schools Honor Band and the Olive Peirce Middle School (OPMS) Bands conducted a Spaghetti Dinner Concert on April 27 at the OPMS Performance Art Center (PAC). It was for the Elementary Schools Honor Band to gain confidence in preparation for the trip to the Orange County Adjudicated Festival on May 18. It was also to raise funding for the trip. Many family members, relatives and friends enjoyed the dinner and concert.
All the food, drinks, and prizes were donated. Volunteers prepared the dinner of spaghetti, salad, bread and various desserts. Everything was for sale to raise money. The event was lively with high energy and people had fun. Kids helped in cleaning and returned PAC to its normal state afterwards.
Volunteers moved all the instruments, heavy or delicate, to and from the band room for the performance in PAC. All players gathered earlier to rehearse, and the dinner and concert started from 5:30pm. In addition to the music, various activities such as raffles, prizes, silent auction, and impromptu acts all mixed in with the program. Students played traditional marching band, jazz, and pop music. This is a great effort of community promoting music in our young generation.
