Happiness vs. anger and fear. Which do you choose?

On Saturday last I marched in the San Diego Pride parade with my friends in Veterans For Peace.  Marching in the Pride parade is a thrill, the people are so nice, happiness everywhere.  This year they had a large contingent of active-duty people marching—brave and proud people putting their lives on the line for us, and finally able to stand proud of what they are, human beings unequal to none.  At the end of the parade VFP had a booth set up and nearby was a group of fundamental Christians with a bull-horn and lots of signs declaring the 55,000 people in attendance sinners and warning them to repent. 

In the meantime I saw couple after couple walk by with profound happiness on their faces.  In contrast were the Christian guys who were angry and peddling fear.  Let’s see, happy people vs. angry Christians.  I kept looking back at the Christians and then at the couples, angry, happy, angry happy, and was left wondering why the Christians were peddling fear and anger, and who in their right mind would buy into it?  Were they there to spoil the love in the air?
