Painting the Town and Restoring Our Past! Ramona On the Move!

Outdoor murals! Restoration of the Ramona Town Hall! A burgeoning Wine and Antique industry! Can Anything Stop us Now??? Yes.....Apathy.

Β Β Β Β  Coming off a successful and classy fund raiser at Milagro Farms Winery ( a treat and well worth the trip if you have not been there), the Ramona H.E.A.R.T. Mural Project is poised to unveil its first of many murals on Saturday, February 18, 2012 between the hours of 3 pm to 5 pm. at a Grand Unveiling ceremony to which the entire community is invited. Installation will commence on Thursday, February 16, 2012 on the tower of the Town & Country building on the corner of 10th and Main Streets. This unveiling of the first of what will hopefully be five murals a year is the culmination of over a year of effort by a group seeking to create a vehicle for attracting tourists to Ramona as a destination and not a pass through. In conjunction with our wineries, antique shops and equestrian opportunities, it is hoped that Ramona will be revitalized as a quaint "go to" destination for San Diegans and beyond. Come out and see the mural! The mural is a Casey Tibbs theme mural being painted by none other than John Whelan, the artist who painted the Charles Lindbergh mural at the airport.

Β Β Β Β  As if this isn’t enough, on Sunday, February 26, 2012 between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., the Ramona Town Hall will be celebrating its 118th anniversary with a community get together in conjunction with the opening of a newly refurbished West Wing and the unveiling of the portraits of Augustus and Martha Barnett painted by immensely talented local artist Judy Nachazel. There will be music, refreshments and overwhelming community pride as this gateway to Ramona’s past is slowly getting a facelift and restored function for the town.

Β Β Β Β  It is exciting to see the relentless efforts of local volunteers lead to such positive and productive results for our town. These developments are just two of the many positive projects being shepherded by dedicated and far thinking volunteers who are our neighbors and friends. Just imagine if everyone in town pitched in to make Ramona the embodiment of small town cooperation and teamwork. There would be no end to the possibilities, making Ramona a place to be envied by small towns everywhere. The best part is that we would get to live here...
