Stop The Nonsense!

Our Congressman, Duncan Hunter, voted to make permanent tax cuts for the upper 2% of income earners, adding $84B to the national debt.  The big corporations don’t pay any tax at all, and so now Hunter and his colleges have drawn a line in the sand by refusing to raise the debt limit, as if the debt created over the last 40 years was created by Democrats only.  Worse, they want to cut Medicare to balance the budget.  

 Today my friends and I stood on the street corner in Ramona for 1 hour with “Save Medicare” and “Medicare is not negotiable” posters.  During that hour we got 51 thumbs up and 3 middle fingers.  This pretty much sums up public opinion on cutting Medicare, but the Republican ideology is driving our nation off a cliff, and throwing Grandma under the bus on the way over.

 If you don’t do anything political this year, call Duncan Hunter, or Darrell Issa and tell them to stop the nonsense!  Every trusted analysis of our budget woes that I have seen shows that only a combination of budget cuts with increases of tax revenues will fix the problem, so they play politics with our well-being and out children’s futures because the rich and the big corporations have their ear.  Let’s fill those ears with the voice of the public.  It may be our last chance.
