Small Earthquake Hits Near Julian In San Diego County

JULIAN, CA — A magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck Wednesday evening near Julian in San Diego County.

The quake was recorded at 5:03 p.m. about 15 miles east-southeast of Julian, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was centered approximately:

• 16.2 miles southwest of Pine Valley
• 16.2 miles northeast of Ocotillo Wells
• 17.1 miles north of Borrego Springs
• 42.4 miles west of Escondido

Residents in Alpine, El Cajon, Escondido, San Diego and Spring Valley reported feeling the quake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
