This is an excellent opportunity to hone your painting skills with a masterful painter. During this one-day workshop, Vicki Walsh will guide painters of all levels and media through Renaissance glazing techniques. She will also address imagery and its meaning.

Vicki will be introducing a modified seventeenth-century oil painting technique that she applies to her own work. She uses a methodical process common among accomplished European Masters that she has adapted for 21st century paced life. In part, she will demonstrate grounding, underdrawing, underpainting, glazing, simplified color palette, brushes and contemporary mediums used within this modified technique. Even though it sounds ancient and somewhat creatively constricting, she has found the end result to be as diverse as the artists themselves. Beginners and advance can benefit from this demonstration.
Layered Drawing
Similarly, she will demonstrate a modified a Silverpoint (metalpoint) technique utilizing graphite pencils that creates a beautiful drawing surface. Like glazing, it takes some patience and some time, but beginners will also be able to work with this technique. Metalpoints will be discussed and shown but we will use graphite in class.
