Man Arrested In Motorhome, Storage Shed Burglary In Ramona

The stolen items are worth between $95,000 and $125,000, officials said.

RAMONA, CA – A man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property in connection with the break-in of a motorhome and storage shed in Ramona, police announced Wednesday.

A couple reported to police on Saturday their property was burglarized and the thief took expensive jewelry, two electric bicycles, tools and other items worth between $95,000 and $125,000, according to Sgt. Robert Samuels with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The couple obtained information about the location of the stolen property and the person believed responsible for the theft on Tuesday. They went to the 900 block of East Old Julian Highway in Ramona and confronted Christopher Payne, 24, who admitted to the theft, Samuels said.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the location and detained Payne. A search warrant was obtained and an estimated $10,000 worth of property was recovered from Payne's home, said Samuels.

Payne was taken into custody and the stolen property was returned to the couple, Samuels said.
