LOCATION:       3600 Block of Bancroft Drive, Spring Valley

DECEASED:        Karmen Dionne Anderson, 40-years-old  

SUSPECT:           Jammerieo Austin, 26-years-old     

Sheriff's Homicide detectives continued their investigation and identified twenty-six-year-old Jammerieo Austin, from San Diego, as a suspect in the murder of Karmen Anderson.  Jammerieo was arrested yesterday and booked into the San Diego Central Jail for one count of 187(a) PC – Murder, two counts of 245(a)(2) PC – Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and one count of 29800(a)(1) PC – Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Information from prior release:

On April 24, 2021, at about 11:30 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to the 3600 block of Bancroft Drive in Spring Valley for a report of a shooting.  When deputies arrived, they learned a woman had been shot while seated in a parked vehicle, but she was no longer at the scene.  Another person had driven the woman to a local area hospital where she was being treated for gunshot wounds.  Unfortunately, the woman's condition declined. She was pronounced deceased this morning.    

The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility of the investigation.

The victim has been identified as forty-year-old Karmen Dionne Anderson who is also known as Karmen Hicks. Karmen is a resident of the city of San Diego. Her family has been notified of her death.
