Second Earthquake Shakes East San Diego County

JULIAN, CA – A magnitude 3.6 earthquake rattled East San Diego County early Wednesday morning, a day after a slightly smaller quake struck the same spot.

The earthquake hit at 3:06 a.m. at a depth of 1.5 miles, with its epicenter about 5 miles northwest of Julian, according to the United States Geological Survey. The quake struck 22 hours after Tuesday morning's magnitude 3.1 quake, which was slightly deeper and also about 5 miles northwest of Julian.

The latest earthquake was felt as far away as Ramona, Escondido, Lakeside, Valley Center and Poway, according to the USGS.

There were no reports of injuries or damage from either small tremors, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
